Karotu Veedu is the ancestral home of Judge Karotu Ulahannan, a Travancore judge who was the Eldest son of Mathew Tarakan, one of the founders of Puthupally Church. This house is about 400 years old.

  Achamma, the second daughter of Karottu Anthrayose, the sixth generation from Itti Mathew Tharakan was married to Vallakalil Ummachan (later Vallakalil V.J.Oomman Ex. M.L.C.  (Member of Legislative Council \Sree Moolam Thirunal Praja Sabha))  and settled in Puthupaally Karottu house. Thus the house name became Karottu Vallakalil...

V.J. Oommen started an English Middle School for girls in Puthuppally in 1939. After his death, the school was named V.J. Oommen Memorial UPS. It is still functioning as an aided mixed UPS near Karottu Vallakkalil house, Puthuppally.

   M.L.C Vallakalil Ummchan and Karottu Achamma Ammachi's eldest son K. O. Chandy & Kumarakom Oruvattithara Baby couple's eldest son is MR.OOMMEN CHANDY. Younger son Alex V Chandy and only daughter Achamma (Valsamma).  

പുതുപ്പള്ളി പള്ളിയുടെ സ്ഥാപകരിൽ ഒരാളായ താഴത്ത് ഇട്ടി മാത്യു തരകന്റെ മൂത്ത പുത്രൻ തിരുവിതാംകൂറിലെ ജഡ്ജിയായിരുന്ന കരോട്ട് ഉലഹന്നാൻ ജഡ്ജിയുടെ തറവാട് വീടാണ് കരോട്ടു വീട്. ഏകദേശം 400 വർഷത്തെ പഴക്കമുണ്ട് ഈ വീടിന്.

ഇട്ടി മാത്യു തരകൻ മുതൽ ആറാംതലമുറക്കാരനായ കരോട്ട് അന്ത്രിയോസിന്റെ രണ്ടാമത്തെ പുത്രി അച്ചാമ്മയെ വള്ളക്കാലിൽ ഉമ്മച്ചൻ (പിന്നീട് വള്ളക്കാലിൽ വി. ജെ. ഉമ്മൻ എം.എൽ.സി, ശ്രീമൂലം തിരുനാൾ പ്രജാസഭ ലെജിസ്ലേറ്റീവ് കൗൺസിൽ അംഗം) കല്യാണം കഴിച്ചു പുതുപ്പള്ളി കരോട്ടു വീട്ടിൽ താമസമാക്കിയതോടുകൂടി, കരോട്ട് വീടിന്റെ പേര് കരോട്ടു വള്ളക്കാലിൽ എന്നായി...

വി.ജെ.ഉമ്മൻ 1939-ൽ പെൺകുട്ടികൾക്കായി ഒരു ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് മിഡിൽ സ്കൂൾ പുതുപ്പള്ളിയിൽ ആരംഭിച്ചു. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ മരണശേഷം സ്കൂളിന് വി.ജെ. ഉമ്മൻ മെമ്മോറിയൽ യു.പി.എസ്. എന്ന് നാമകരണം ചെയ്തു. പുതുപ്പള്ളി കരോട്ട് വള്ളക്കാലിൽ വീടിന് സമീപം എയ്ഡഡ് മിക്സഡ് യു.പി.എസായി ഇന്നും പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നു. 

വള്ളക്കാലിൽ ഉമ്മച്ചന്റെയും, കരോട്ട് അച്ചാമ്മ അമ്മച്ചിയുടെ മൂത്ത പുത്രൻ കെ. ഒ. ചാണ്ടി- കുമരകം ഒരുവട്ടിത്തറ ബേബി ദമ്പതികളുടെ മൂത്ത പുത്രനാണ് ഉമ്മൻചാണ്ടി, ഇളയ പുത്രൻ അലക്സ് വീ. ചാണ്ടി, ഏക മകൾ അച്ചാമ്മ ( വത്സമ്മ ).
